Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) emerged champions in the Igloo Independence Cup Handball Tournament beating Bangladesh Police in the one-off match at Shaheed (capt) M Mansur Ali National Hockey Stadium yesterday.
BGB defeated Bangladesh Police 26-16 after leading the first half 16-11.
BPL resumes today
After a nine-day gap Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League resumes today at the Bangabandhu National Stadium with the two bottom-placed sides Rahmatganj MFS and Feni Soccer Club facing each other.
Instead of shifting the match to the Kamalapur Stadium, the Bangladesh Football Federation suspended matches of the fifth edition of the professional football league as the BNS was unavailable due to government-hosted Independence Day function yesterday.

A one-day Nexus Trading Independence Cup Water Polo Tournament will be held on Wednesday at the National Swimming Complex in Mirpur.
Four teams -- Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Air Force and Bangladesh Police -- will be taking part in the meet with the winners of two games to play in the final, said a Bangladesh Swimming Federation press release yesterday.
AFC President's Cup
Group A matches of the AFC President's Cup will be held in Lahore from May 8 with Bangladesh League champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club facing Taiwan Power Company in one of the two opening day matches at Punjab Stadium.
Sheikh Jamal then face hosts KRL Football Club on May 10 and play their last group match against Erchim FC of Mongolia at the same venue.
Independence Cup Basketball
Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Navy moved into the final of the Citycell Independence Cup Basketball Tournament beating their respective rivals at the Dhanmondi Wooden Floor Gymnasium yesterday.
The final will take place today at the same venue.
Bangladesh Army thrashed Rangers 81-44 while Bangladesh Navy defeated Boarder Guard Bangladesh 76-56.
