Cabinet okays draft law on Cox's Bazar development
The cabinet yesterday approved the draft of Cox's Bazar Development Authority Act, 2012, seeking planned improvement of the beach town and safeguard of its ecological balance.
Detailed discussions on the draft law took place during the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the secretariat, Cabinet Secretary Muhammad Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan told reporters.
The cabinet asked for inclusion of various suggestions of the ministries concerned in the draft law which aims at ensuring overall development of Cox's Bazar with all civic amenities.
The cabinet yesterday also endorsed the draft of Bilateral Capital-Investment Development and Protection Agreement signed between Bangladesh and Turkey to make the existing agreement of 1987 time befitting, the cabinet secretary said.
Besides these, reports on the policy dialogue of Bangladesh delegation with International Islamic Studies Trade Finance Corporation in Jeddah and at the 4th High-Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in South Korea were placed before the cabinet.
The meeting was also informed about the visit of Bangladesh delegation to four countries of greater Mekong sub-region and participation of the Civil and Tourism Minister at the 'Road Show for Tourism in Bangladesh' held in Kolkata.
