Students of Health Institute of Chittagong blocked Dhaka-Chittagong Highway yesterday morning in Faujderhat area for half an hour to press home their demands, including water supply at their hostel.
Satirtha Das, a student of the institute, alleged they have been suffering from water crisis for three months and urged the institute authorities for several times. But no step was taken to resolve the problem, he added.
The principal of the institute failed to give any assurance in his regard, when the students raised the demand before him.
Following this, they blocked the highway in front of the institute at around 11:00am.
At one stage, local lawmaker Abul Kasem, while passing the area, ensured that he would solve the water crisis.
