Bangladesh Chhatra League, student wing of JSD, yesterday demanded that the caretaker government take initiatives by March 1 to bring the war criminals to justice.
The people of the country are now united in their demand for the trial of war criminals, but the caretaker government remains indifferent, the student leaders said at a press conference at Modhu's Canteen on the Dhaka University (DU) campus.
They also demanded withdrawal of all the cases filed against teachers and students of a number of educational institutions in connection with the campus violence in August last year.
They further demanded immediate elections to all the student unions of public universities, including Dhaka University Central Students' Union.
Meanwhile, Amra Muktijoddhar Santan, a platform for children of freedom fighters, formed a human chain on the DU campus yesterday demanding the trial of war criminals.
Speaking at the programme, they alleged that the anti-liberation forces are instigating the ongoing demonstration against the BCS quota system in a bid to ruin the spirit of the liberation war.
