New DUJ leaders take charge
Newly elected leaders of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) yesterday took over charge of the union for the next two years.
Omar Faruque and Shaban Mahmud were elected president and general secretary respectively of the DUJ in the election held on January 30. The panel led by Faruque won most of the office bearers and members of the 19-member DUJ executive committee in the election.
Enamur Reza Dipu, vice president of the outgoing committee and Abu Zafar Surja, general secretary, handed over the charge to new DUJ President Omar Faruque and General Secretary Shaban Mahmud at the union office at the Jatiya Press Club.
President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury and Secretary General Abdul Jalil Bhuyian spoke on the occasion.
