4 killed in road crashes
Four people, including two children, were killed and six others injured in separate road accidents in Gaibandha, Rajbari, Moulvibazar, and Chandpur Friday and yesterday.
In Gaibandha, a nine-year-old girl was killed and four other people were injured in a road accident on Dharmapur- Panchpir road at Chandipur village yesterday afternoon.
Locals said a speeding auto-rickshaw ran over the victim Ayesha Khatun of the village while she was drying rice on the road, leaving her dead on the spot.
The three-wheeler skidded off the road and fell into a roadside ditch injuring four others.
Our Manikganj correspondent reports: A motorcyclist was killed as a pajero jeep collided head-on with the motorcycle at Kharkharia in Kalukhali upazila of Rajbari district at around 3:00pm yesterday.
Critically injured Abdul Latif Mandal, 25, son of Abdus Salam of Bara Kalkalia village of the upazila, was rushed to Rajbari Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
UNB adds: a college student was killed and two other people were injured in a road accident at Korni village in Rajnagar upazila of Moulvibazar on Friday night.
Apu Dev, 17, a second year student of banking department at Rajnagar Degree College, and son of Ajit Dev of Haripasha village, died instantly.
The accident occurred when driver of the motorcycle carrying two others lost control and hit a roadside tree at 10:00pm.
In Chandpur, a boy was crushed under a tractor on Pannai-Matlab-Chandpur road at Narayanpur village in Matlab upazila on Friday afternoon.
Amir Hamja, 10, son of Momin Pradhan of Sarpur village of the upazila, was rushed to a local health complex where doctors declared him dead..
Police said the accident occurred when a tractor ran over Amir while he was playing on the road.
