Zahid Hasan: Creativity unbound

Seasoned actor Zahid Hasan has created a buzz among audiences with his latest commercial for a condensed milk brand. Directed by Amitabh Reza, the commercial has already won accolades. Hasan said he was surprised at its success, adding that after a long hiatus, one of his commercials had gained so much popularity.
The commercial was shot at FDC and it features a story that presented many acting opportunities, Hasan asserts. He says being an actor, there were plenty of chances to put his best foot forward. But the success was a team effort, as everyone behind the scenes pitched in, adds the modest Hasan.
Asked about beginning the year with a blast, the actor says hard work and the love of the audience made it possible for him to achieve success. The love that the viewers felt for him was clear before, and is more visible after the commercial, Hasan says.
Meanwhile, several of Hasan's TV plays are currently being aired on various TV channels, including “Poush Phaguner Pala”, directed by Afsana Mimi. Hasan plays a key role in the serial and enjoys his work immensely. He says Afsana Mimi, as a director, works with great care, which he observed specially while working with her on the serial “Bondhon”.
Hasan himself directed the much popular mega serial “Lal Neel Beguni” and continues to take on directorial challenges for one-hour plays and serials. Recently, one of his serials “Haater Rekha Kotha Bole” finished airing and he is set to begin work on a new serial.
On his latest endeavours, Zahid Hasan says shooting for the new serial, “Toto Company”, began on January 15 in his hometown of Sirajganj. Written by Ashraf Chanchal, Hasan will direct the serial, along with playing the role of a journalist.
“Toto Company” zooms in on life in a small town, similar to the last serial directed by Hasan. But the stories are entirely different, Hasan says, expressing the hopes that “Toto Company” will be a favourite among the viewers.
Apart from his own directorial work, Hasan continues to act for other directors as well. Asked whether dual projects cause any trouble, the talented actor says every job has its own set of difficulties. But while acting, only the acting aspects are on his mind; the same goes for his production or directorial ventures. Experience and practice have placed things on an even keel, Hasan says.
Hasan's movie projects have been a success story as well. All of his films have won acclaim, with the actor seizing a national award for his performance in “Srabon Megher Din”. Offers to act in movies pour in but many have to be turned down, Hasan says. His last film “Projapoti”, where he worked alongside Moushumi and Mosharraf Karim, has been very popular with moviegoers. Hasan is also set to act in a new film, directed by Abir Sreshtho.
