Dumuria telephone exchange out of order for 10 days
Telecommunication between Dumuria upazila headquarters and rest of the country remained suspended for the last ten days.
At least 150 telephone lines under Dumuria upazila digital telephone exchange went out of order on January 7 as a glitch developed at the circuit of the exchange.
However, the authorities are yet to take any step to resolve the problem.
Medical officer of Dumuria upazila health complex Dr Abdul Hossain said they were facing serious problems due to the telecom failure.
He said the authorities did not take any step to address the glitch even after repeated call.
Superintendent of the UNO office Mujibur Rahman said they cannot fax important files to any ministry or higher authorities due to the situation.
Exchange official Soikat Hossain said they could not repair the circuit as the equipment needed for it were not available.
Exchange in-charge engineer Khairuzzaman could not be reached for his comments in this regard even after repeated attempt.
