Mystery shrouds death of college girl in Natore
Police recovered the body of a college girl at Shawal village in Singra upazila Friday night.
The deceased, Ruma Khatun, 20, was daughter of Abdul Karim of Bilhalti Dangapara village and an HSC student of Bamihal Trimohony Degree College.
Singra police said, locals found her body hanging from a tree at about 11:00pm. Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Natore Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Quoting locals, the OC of Singra PS said there was an affair between Ruma Khatun and Nayan Hossain, 24, son of Rezaul Karim of Shawal village. Nayan is a student of Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute.
Recently Ruma put pressure on Nayan to marry her but Nayan expressed his inability, he added.
Abdul Karim, father of the victim claimed that Ruma went out of home on Thursday morning for her uncle's residence at Achalkot village. Later Nayan and his people took her to their house at Shawal village and killed her at night, he said.
Karim lodged a murder case with Singra police station in this connection accusing five people including Nayan.
Nayan's father Rezaul Karim claimed that it was a case of suicide, but it can only be ascertained after an autopsy is done, police said.
In Thakurgoan, a schoolgirl was killed after rape at Munishagaon village under Ranishankoil upazila and her body was found in a wheat field near her house on Friday evening, reports our correspondent.
The deceased was identified as Ritu, 8, daughter of Syed Bara Mian of the same village and a student of Class-IV at Gazirhat Government Primary School.
Officer in-charge of Ranishankoil police station Zahidul Islam told this correspondent over cell phone that the girl went missing from Thursday night.
On suspicion, police arrested one Entaz,20, son of Ferazul of Munishagaon village under the same upazila early Saturday.
In Shariatpur, a 10-year-old primary schoolgirl was violated yesterday afternoon at Sujandal village in Sadar upazila, reports UNB.
Local people said Nasir, 22, son of Jalil Miah of the village, forcibly took the class V student of Sujandal Government Primary School to a jungle on her way back home from school and raped her at about 1:00pm.
Hearing the screams of the girl, local people rushed in and rescued the girl in a profusely bleeding condition.
However, culprit Nasir managed to flee the scene hurriedly.
The victim's father filed a case with the local police station accusing Nasir.
