Death anniversary
Today is the 40th death anniversary of Dr Fazle Rabbee, a martyred intellectual and renowned cardiologist.
On this day in the afternoon in 1971, the Pakistani army and their local collaborators -- Razakar, Al-Badr, Al-Shams -- picked him up from his Shiddheswari residence in the city and killed him brutally at Rayer Bazar at midnight.
Later, his body was recovered from the Rayer Bazar killing ground on December 18, 1971.
Eminent physician Dr Rabbee was the professor of medicine and cardiology department at the Dhaka Medical College.
To mark the day, wreaths will be placed and fateha will be offered at his grave at New Azimpur graveyard. Qurankhwani and milad mahfil will also be held at Dhaka Salimeillah Orphanage, says a press release.
