Programme to collect finger prints in Ctg
A programme for collecting biometric impression (finger print) of Bangladeshi expatriate workers was launched at Chittagong Circuit House yesterday.
Under this programme, the finger prints will be sent to every check point including air port to identify the persons accurately.
President of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud inaugurated the programme organised by Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET).
BMET Director General Khorshed Alam Chowdhury was present as special guest with Chittagong Deputy Commissioner Fayaz Ahmed in the chair.
People can submit their finger prints at District Employment and Manpower office at Agrabad, said BMET officials.
Anisul Islam said, to save the overseas workers from fraud by brokers, they have started this programme which will also help the government to keep track of the expatriates.
He said the brokers mostly send the workers abroad without following rules and regulations leaving them in worst situations abroad.
Mentioning about the problem in manpower export, he said the sector has been suffering from a shortage. When a worker of Bangladesh needs legal support or any other help abroad, high commissions could not provide adequate service due to shortage of manpower, he added.
