Documentaries on human trafficking

The USAID yesterday released two documentaries that highlight the tragedy of trafficking in persons in Bangladesh.
As a part of ongoing advocacy initiatives to end the crime of human trafficking, the documentaries “SOLD” and “Survivors' Voice” were funded by the US government through its principal development agency, USAID.
“SOLD” was produced by the MTV-EXIT (End Exploitation and Trafficking) campaign, a regional USAID-funded programme, said a press release.
The video, which seeks to raise awareness to prevent human trafficking, features stories of human trafficking victims and illuminates the terror of cross-border trafficking of both males and females in Bangladesh, India and Nepal.
The second video documentary, “Survivors' Voice,” highlights labour trafficking and efforts to address the issue of Trafficking in Persons (TIP) in Bangladesh.
Representatives from the government and civil society leaders discussed the situation of human trafficking.
Participants stressed the need for speedy enactment of the comprehensive law on human trafficking and on emigration. Home Minister Advocate Sahara Khatun and Richard Greene, US Charge d'Affaires a.i. and USAID mission director, represented the two governments respectively.
