Headmaster sued for not taking safety measures
Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) yesterday lodged a case against the headmaster of Faizur Rahman Ideal Institute in connection with the death of its schoolboy in a wall collapse on Tuesday.
Class one student Zubaer Rahman Fahim was killed and two of his classmates injured as the wall of the institute at the city's Banasree collapsed.
Injured HM Ullash is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Another victim Ashraful Haque Shrabon was shifted to Islami Bank Central Hospital from DMCH.
Ashraful was out danger, DMCH sources said.
Asadur Rahman, cousin of Ullash, told The Daily Star that left leg of Ullash was fractured with injuries to head.
Muhitul Islam, sub-inspector of Khilgaon Police Station, said an authorised officer of Rajuk filed the case for erecting structure without taking permission from Rajuk and not taking safety measures to avoid possible accident as per the law.
Muhitul said an unnatural death case was also filed in this connection adding that they are investigating the matter. Police could not arrest the headmaster as he went into hiding, he added.
Meanwhile, a doa and milad mahfil were held on the institute premises yesterday.
Zubaer's mother Ruma Begum was passing out frequently at the residence and repeatedly saying that she compelled her son to go to school ignoring his will, said Shah Alam Miah, uncle of Zubaer.
