Police fail to arrest 'torturers'

Despite filling a case against the couple--SI Shahed Ali of Sitakundu Police Station and his wife Sweety Begum--five days ago in connection with the brutal torture on their domestic help Romela, police failed to arrest them.
“After filing the case, we have suspended sub-inspector Shahed Ali and asked him to report to the district police administration within Monday. But the SI did not join the police station. SI Shahed and his wife are now absconding,” Nure Alam Mina, ASP of Chittagong district told the Daily Star.
He, however, said police are trying to nab couple.
Some days before the Eid-ul-Azha, Sweety pushed Romela into hot water and pressed a hot spoon against the back of the little girl several times in their house of Chittagong.
