7 held while trying to intrude into India
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested seven Bangladeshi nationals as they tried to illegally intrude into India from Pachbibi upazila of Joypurhat yesterday.
Md Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge, Pachbibi Police Station, said the people started gathering at the bordering Koya village of Pachbibi since morning. They were set to enter India illegally through brokers and had no documents or identity cards, he said.
Officials of Joypurhat-3 BGB Battalion said the human traffickers managed to escape.
The arrested people include Radhen Ghosh, 60, of Kodalia village of Tangail sadar upazila and Sanjit Mondal, 9, (address unknown). All of the five others hail from Sollah village of Nawabganj, Dhaka. They are Milani Sarker, wife of Santosh Sarker; Binodini Mondal, 58, wife of Rupchan Mondal; and Jotsna Mondal, 30, wife of Nandiram Mondal, and her 10-year-old daughter Shipra Mondal and six-year-old Nabjit Mondal.
