DB man dies in attack over land dispute
A member of Detective Branch of Police was killed and two of his nephews were injured in an attack over land dispute in Kalukhali upazila of Rajbari yesterday.
Police arrested one Habibul Islam Ziru, 26, in this connection from Baliakandi Char area under Pangsha upazila of Rajbari around 7:00pm.
The deceased Abdur Razzak alias Tuku, 50, was a sub-inspector of Narayanganj residing in Pachuria village of the upazila. The injured Sahjahan Ali, 32, and Jahidul Islam, 39, were admitted to Rajbari Sadar Hospital.
Rajbari Superintendent of Police Rezaul Haq said Razzak had a longstanding dispute with one Hasu Ali of Chadmrigi village over a piece of land.
Hasu went to Razzak's residence around 9:30am with his brother Habibul and some men and had an altercation with Razzak. At one point, Habibul hit Razzak on the head with a piece of wood, said the police official.
Razzak was taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital around 11:30am where doctors declared him dead.
Incensed, Razzak's relatives vandalised Hasu's residence and a shop of his, he said.
Later, law enforcers from Rajbari, Kalukhali and Pangsha police stations arrived and brought the situation under control. A large number of police were deployed in the area.
