2 units shut
Two units of Barapukuria Thermal Power Plant were shut down following technical glitches on Friday afternoon.
Sources at the coal-fired power plant said the No-1 unit was shut down after its tubes developed leaks.
They said the No-2 unit was closed for similar reason.
Several tubes of the unit had developed leak on November 2, they informed.
The two units together generate 120 to 130 megawatt electricity everyday normally that was supplied to the national grid, which means that the national grid is not being fed with 120 MW electricity everyday due to technical fault in both units.
Manjurul Haque, chief engineer of Barapukuria Thermal Power Plant, said engineers are trying to repair the units. After their repair the two units will resume power generation within 5 to 6 days, he hoped.
