Siddikur comes good in Round 3
Siddikur Rahman enjoyed an almost flawless day at the HSBC Champions in Shanghai yesterday as the 2010 Brunei Open winner produced a five-under-par 67 third round at the Sheshan International Golf Club on Saturday.
The 27-year-old, who was in 67th position overnight, sank six birdies with just one bogey on Saturday as he climbed to joint 47th position with an aggregate score of one-under-par 215.
Siddikur, who had started the tour with a three-over-par round followed by a one-over-par in the second round, was superb at the weekend to replicate some of his best form of the season.
On the front nine, Siddikur birdied on the second, fifth, seventh and eighth holes and bogeyed on the fourth to end the front nine on 33. There was no bogey on the back nine, while birdies in the tenth and sixteenth helped him finish the round on five-under-par, making some ground on the leading pack. However, despite his best shot, Siddikur was still 15 shots adrift of overnight leader Fredrik Jacobson of Sweden who held on to his lead with a five-under-par 67 in the third round.
British Open winner Louis Oosthuizen returned with a 68 to take second place while Australia's Adam Scott is in third place on 203. World No 3 Rory McIlroy staged his comeback by carding a 65 to take a share of fourth place alongside England's Lee Westwood on 204.
The 7 million dollar HSBC Champions is one of four World Golf Championships sanctioned events where most of the top golfers in the world are taking part.
