Road crashes kill 5
At least five people were killed in different road mishaps in Chapainawabganj, Dinajpur, Sirajganj, Chittagong and Pabna yesterday.
A 50-year-old woman was killed after a Rajshahi-bound microbus hit her at Swarupnagar area of Chapainawabganj town yesterday.
The deceased was Elanur Begum, wife of Habibur Rahman of the district's Alinagar-Bhutpukur area.
Sadar police said Elanur was crossing the road when she met with the accident on Chapainawabganj-Rajshahi highway.
Locals rushed her to Chapainawabganj Adhunik Sadar Hospital, where duty doctors declared her dead.
Our Dinajpur correspondent reports, a man was hit by a three-wheeler van yesterday in the district when he was returning home on his bicycle, said police quoting witnesses.
The victim was Suvash Chandra Pal, 35, son of Gopal Chandra Pal of Srikrishnapur village in the district's Biral upazila. Local rushed him to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
A correspondent from Sirajganj reports, an unidentified man was left spot dead after a Dhaka-bound passenger bus ran over him on a Bangabandhu Bridge connecting road at Nalka in the district yesterday, said highway police.
Our Chittagong correspondent reports, a bus rammed a road construction worker when he was working in Bansbaria area in Sitakunda upazila Sunday night, said police.
The deceased was Nurul Islam, 35, son of Nazir Ahmed of Baro Dheba village in Cox's Bazar. Locals rushed Nurul to Chittagong Medical College Hospital around 2:30am yesterday where duty doctors declared him dead.
Our Pabna correspondent reports: A minor boy was hit by a speeding trolley at Char Vobanipur village in the district's Sujanagar upazila on Sunday.
Police and locals said Md Jahid Hossain, 12, a class-VII student of Sujanagar Pilot High School, was returning home from school on Sunday when he met with the accident.
He was initially rushed to Sujanagar Upazila Health Complex and later died on the way to Pabna Medical College Hospital around 6:30pm.
