Theatre festival to generate awareness of human rights
A two-day long theatre festival -- with the slogan “Jekhane Adhar Kali Shekhane Muktir Dip Jali” -- was held at Kishoreganj Shilpakala Academy on October 27 and 28.
Shirin Banu Mitil, freedom fighter and woman's rights activist inaugurated the festival on October 27.
On the first day of the festival, organising by Bangladesh Manobadhikar Natya Parishad's Kishoreganj unit, a rally was brought out in the town. Cultural programme featuring lathi khela, plays, dance, and a discussion were held at Shilpakala Academy.
Mahinanda Natya Parishad staged the play “Hillah”, through which they urged everyone to not support the Hillah marriage. Manobadhikar Natya Parishad's Pouro wing staged the play “Eve teasing”, in which they depicted the impact of the social illness that is sexual harassment. Sargam Lalitakala Academy sang at the function.
At second day's programme, Shilpakala Academy Kishoreganj Ekota Natya Goshthi staged the play “Goru”, written and directed by Manash Kar. The play addressed tyranny and the need to speak out against it. Charjapad Theatre staged “Khepa Paglar Pechal” which narrated the story of a disillusioned freedom fighter in independent Bangladesh.
