Rajuk stops construction of welfare assoc office

Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) yesterday stopped the construction work of an office of Uttara Sector 3 Kallyan Samity following media reports.
Locals said that a team of Rajuk officials went to the spot on Road No 20 besides Uttara Lake and stopped the work around 11:00am.
On Friday, The Daily Star ran a report titled “Welfare assoc constructs structure on public land defying locals protest”.
On condition of anonymity, a member of the team said they have stopped the construction for violating terms and conditions of land allotment.
Defying protest of the locals, the association had been constructing the permanent structure on public land at Sector No-3 of Uttara in the city, which is likely to cause environmental hazards and hamper the sewerage system.
The association started construction of a permanent building of the association few days ago although Rajuk allotted the land for making its temporary office.
A Rajuk official filed a general dairy (GD) against some unknown people of the association with Uttara Police Station for threatening Rajuk officials when they went to the spot.
