Germany to Give € 11m as climate aid
Germany yesterday pledged to provide 10.9 million euro as grant to help Bangladesh implement climate change adaptation and mitigation programmes.
German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Dirk Niebel made the pledge while signing a joint declaration of intent on 'Cooperation in the Field of Adaptation and Mitigation of Climate Change' at Hotel Adlon Kempinski here.
Foreign Minister Dipu Moni and Niebel signed the declaration on behalf of their respective countries.
The two countries also signed another joint declaration of intent on 'Cooperation in the Field of Health'.
Health Minister AFM Ruhal Haque and German Parliamentary State Secretary for Health Annette Widmann Mauz signed the declaration on behalf of their respective countries.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina witnessed the signing of the two documents.
Ambassador-at-Large M Ziauddin, PM's Principal Secretary Sheikh Wahed Uz Zaman, Bangladesh Ambassador to Germany Mosud Mannan, German Ambassador to Bangladesh Holger Michael and other high officials of the German government were present.
