Confusion created by 'some people'

Says Mamata for the first time about Teesta, Tin Bigha issues

Breaking her silence on Teesta water-sharing issue with Bangladesh, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee yesterday blamed "some people" for creating "confusion" on the matter.
On the sidelines of National Development Council meet in New Delhi, she also hoped that cordial ties between the two neighbouring countries would continue.
"Some people created confusion (on Teesta water issue)... we maintained the best relations with Bangladesh and I hope India and Bangladesh will work together," the Trinamool Congress leader said.
This was for the first time Mamata spoke on the widespread controversies over non-signing of Teesta water-sharing accord during Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Dhaka in September.
Mamata had declined to be part of Singh's team to Dhaka, expressing her reservations against the move to sign the treaty.
She also denied having any issue with the federal Indian government over the Tinbigha Corridor.
Mamata was invited by the federal Indian government but could not make it to receive Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina when the latter had crossed the corridor on October 18.
"I am not informed about the Tinbigha Corridor. We (West Bengal) have nothing to do here since it is between India and Bangladesh government," she said when asked whether she is annoyed with the central government over the issue.
"As we also have good relations with Bangladesh, question of differences (on Tinbigha and Teesta) does not arise," she said.
