Villagers protest murder
Locals brought out a procession in Saghata town yesterday with the body of a murder victim demanding arrest and punishment of the killers. They also besieged a police outpost.
Rubel, 38, of Shimul Tair village of Saghata, who was beaten up and severely injured allegedly by local criminals over playing carom at the village on October 4, succumbed to his wounds at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Friday.
His body reached his village home Friday night.
Angered by the murder, villagers took out a procession with his body demanding arrest and punishment of the killers.
The processionists later went to Bonapara and laid a siege to Bonapara police outpost protesting increase in crimes.
