Obama warns Arab dictators
US President Barack Obama on Thursday warned Arab tyrants after the fall of Gaddafi that their reign would inevitably fall.
Obama, who has at times laboured to come up with a consistent message on the Arab Spring revolutions which swept North Africa and the Middle East this year, had a stern warning for other Arab regimes.
"Across the Arab world, citizens have stood up to claim their rights. Youth are delivering a powerful rebuke to dictatorship. And those leaders who try to deny their dignity will not succeed," he said.
"For the region, today's events prove once more that the rule of an iron fist inevitably comes to an end."
Obama did not mention any nations by name, but his remarks appeared to be a clear reference to US foes Syria and Iran.
