Gun attack on AL leader's residence in Khulna: 3 hurt
Criminals on Wednesday night opened fire on the residence of a local Awami League (AL) leader at Bagmara village in Dighalia upazila, leaving three people injured.
The bullet-injured were identified as Shamim Molla, brother of Dighalia upazila AL vice president Mofizul Islam Thanda, Thanda's relative Ramzan and neighbour Sabet.
They were admitted to the upazila health complex.
Thanda was gossiping with his family members and others at the drawing room of his house during power outage at about 9:30pm.
All of a sudden a gang of six coming in two motorbikes sprayed bullets on the house, leaving the three injured. Thanda, however, escaped unhurt.
Police confirmed the incident saying that 8-10 bullets were fired during the gun attack.
Thanda and local people suspected that the firing might have taken place as a sequel to conflict between Thanda and sitting Gazirhat union parishad chairman Rouf Molla during the UP polls in April.
Police were deployed in the area following the incident. None was arrested till yesterday afternoon.
