4 hurt over Samorita Hospital bill
Four people including the general manager of Samorita Hospital in the city's Panthapath were injured in a clash between relatives of a patient and the hospital staff last night over reducing the bill.
The injured are the General Manager Nurul Islam Tuhin and the relatives Manirul Islam, Naeem Hasan and Mostafizur Rahman Shaon.
Tuhin said one relative Lutfur Rahman, over phone, requested the bill to be reduced.
After doing so, six to seven of the relatives engaged in an altercation with him over the reduced amount. At one point, they beat him and broke the hospital's glass partitions, prompting the staff to retaliate, he said.
However, the relatives said one relative, not among the three mentioned, hit Tuhin when the latter used an offensive language.
Police detained the three relatives at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station after providing them treatment at Shaheed Suhrawardi Medical College Hospital.
