Cheated, devastated
As many as 37 degree examinees of Gaibandha Government College will not be able to appear in the examinations, beginning today as they did not get admit cards as of 5:00pm yesterday.
The candidates alleged that BCL leader Rahat Mahmud took examination forms duly filled in with requisite fees from them for submitting to the college office.
When they came to the college yesterday to collect admit card, office staff said they have not yet received admit cards of the candidates.
Failing to get admit cards, the candidates became frustrated and staged a sit-in on the Shaheed Minar premises on the college campus.
They urged the college authorities to make an arrangement so that they can sit for the examinations.
When asked, BCL leader Rahat Mahmud said he had duly submitted forms and fees of all 37 candidates to college office.
“I don't know why the admit cards of the candidate are yet to reach college,” the BCL leader said.
Principal Prof Rezaul Karim told newsmen that college office did not receive any papers and fees from the said candidates.
“They have done wrong, it is the responsibility of the candidates to deposit fees to the bank and forms to the college office in person, not through any representative,” he added.
“We gave examination forms and fees to Rahat in good faith, but he cheated us,” the candidates said. This year, a total of 1,237 candidates will appear in degree examinations from Gaibandha Government college.
