Two beaten to death
Two suspected thieves were killed in mass beating in seperate incidents in the city yesterday.
Shahabuddin Sabu, 22, was left dead at an under-construction site in Motijheel, while Mohammad Ripon, 20, was caught in Uttarkhan area and later died in hospital, police said.
Quoting workers of the building, police said Sabu was caught when he was stealing abandoned iron rods from the building at Mominbagh around 3:30am. He died following a good beating on the spot.
Abul Bashar, brother of the victim, told The Daily Star that denied allegations of theft against his brother, saying that his left hand was paralysed since childhood.
Police detained a worker for interrogation, the OC added.
Meanwhile, Ripon was caught red-handed by locals when he along with his cohorts tried to enter into the office of Basic Foundation, a multi-purpose cooperative firm, at Kachpurabazar of Uttarkhan around 1:30am by cutting its tin-shed roof, police said.
