'Implement enclave exchange deal without delay'
People living in enclaves in Panchagarh district submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina through the deputy commissioner yesterday afternoon demanding early implementation of the enclave exchange deal signed between the governments of Bangladesh and India.
They submitted the memorandum to the PM, just a day ahead of her visit to Dahagram and Angorpota. The prime minister will visit the enclave in Lalmonirhat district today.
The enclave people also demanded specific timeframe for implementation of the enclave exchange deal.
People all the 162 enclaves inside Bangladesh and India observed their 10-day agitation programme from September 23-October 2 to press for their demand. The programmes include 'Nishprodip Raat Japon' (passing night without lighting lamps) bicycle procession, silent procession, mass signature campaign and public rally.
One hundred and eleven Indian enclaves inside Bangladesh are situated in Panchagarh, Lalmonirhat, Kurigram and Nilphamari districts while all the 51 Bangladesh enclaves are in Indian Cooch Behar district.
