Bauls assemble at Kushtia

A five-day programme has been chalked out to observe the 121st death anniversary of Lalon at the Chheuria Lalon Akhra in Kushtia. The programme begins today.
Lalon Academy, an organisation consisting of elected people to oversee Lalon's shrine, is holding the programme in association with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
Kushtia district administration is supervising the event.
The programme includes a 'Lalon Mela', discussion and rendition of songs by artistes of Lalon Academy and Bauls from across the country.
Abdul Karim Shah, a veteran Baul who won the Ekushey Padak, inaugurated the programme.
On the first day, special assistant of the Prime Minister, Mahbubul Alam Hanif will address the gathering as chief guest.
Other guests at the programme include State Minister for Information and Cultural Affairs, Advocate Promod Mankin and State Minister for Housing and Public Works, Advocate Abdul Mannan.
Banamali Bhoumik, Deputy Commissioner of Kushtia, will preside over the programme.
Banglalink is the sponsor of the programme.
Bauls from different areas have already assembled at the Akhra.
