CU student commits suicide

A Chittagong University student allegedly committed suicide yesterday in a privately owned cottage adjacent to the university.
The deceased, Azmeer Hossain, a student of law department, hailed from Hatia under Noakhali district.
Police recovered his hanging body around 11:00am following information received from cottage residents.
According to campus sources, a few friends of Azmeer went to the cottage to meet him yesterday morning. They found his room door locked from inside and received no response despite knocking repeatedly.
They informed the cottage residents of the matter and found the body after they broke open the window. Afterwards the matter was informed to the police and university authorities.
Officer-in-charge of Hathazari Police Station Md Samiul Alam said, Azmeer's body has been sent to his home village.
The reason behind his suicide could not be known immediately, police said.
