Another held in Joypurhat
Police yesterday arrested an alleged member of illegal kidney trade syndicate in Kalai upazila of Joypurhat.
The arrestee was identified as Md Faruk Hossain, 35, son of late Isak Ali of village Bherendi.
Following a tip-off, a team of police led by Fazlul Karim, officer-in-charge of Kalai Police Station, raided the village early in the morning and arrested Faruk from his residence.
With this arrest, law enforcers have detained a total of 10 people in connection with the illegal organ trade since August 28.
At least 42 people of 18 villages in the upazila have fallen victim to the syndicate.
All the accused are now behind bars in Joypurhat jail, police said.
