52 charge sheeted in Khulna BCL leader murder case
Police on Sunday submitted charge sheet against 52 people in the case for murder of Fakkir Imran Ali, general secretary of Terokhada upazila unit Chhatra League (BCL).
Two out of the 54 FIR-named accused have been left out of the charge sheet, police said.
Fakir Imran Ali, son of Fakir Ratan Ali of Terokhada upazila Sadar succumbed to gunshot injuries while on way to Khulna Medical College and Hospital on March 19 this year.
On March 21, Md Shaheb Ali Fakir, elder brother of the deceased filed a case with Terokhada PS accusing 54 people of murder.
BCL leader Fakir Imran Ali was fatally wounded in gun attack allegedly by supporters of Sheikh Shahidul Islam, general secretary of Terokhada upazila unit Awami League.
Shahidul was a candidate for the post of chairman of Sadar union parisad.
The gun attack took place near Katenga Bazar when Fakir Imran was leading a motorbike procession brought out in support of sitting chairman of Sadar union parisad Wahiduzzaman Fakir who was also a candidate for the post.
Investigation officer Md Mamun-ur-Rashid, after long six months, submitted the charge sheet to the court of the Senior Judicial Magistrate, Khulna.
The 52 charge sheeted accused include general secretary of Terokhada upazila unit Awami League Sheikh Shahidul Islam.
Sheikh Shahidul, the prime accused in the case, is still holding the post.
The two accused left out of charge sheet are Kauser Ali, president of Terokhada upazila unit BNP and Shagar Sheikh, son of the prime accused.
