Hearing deferred for tenth time
A Dhaka court yesterday deferred for the tenth time the hearing on charge framing in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case till December 1.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, her elder son Tarique Rahman, and four others are accused in the graft case.
Judge Mohammad Mozzamel Hossain of the Special Judge Court-3 passed the order after the defence lawyer for Khaleda and Tarique submitted a petition seeking the adjournment, as a writ petition that his clients filed in 2009 remains still pending with the High Court.
Meantime, another Dhaka court yesterday again asked the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to submit probe report by December 21 of the case filed against Khaleda Zia and three others for abusing power to set up Shaheed Zia Charitable Trust.
Metropolitan Magistrate Erfan Ullah passed the order as the ACC failed to submit the report by yesterday.
Three other accused are Harris Chowdhury, political secretary to the then prime minister, Ziaul Islam Munna, Harris' assistant personal secretary and Monirul Islam Khan, APS to Dhaka City Corporation's incumbent Mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka.
The ACC filed the case against the accused with Tejgaon Police Station on August 8.
