Road crashes kill 7

Seven people, including a schoolboy, were killed and another youth was injured in separate road accidents in Pabna, Mymensingh, Feni and Rangpur yesterday.
Our Pabna correspondent reports: A schoolboy was killed on the spot when a speedy bus hit him on the Pabna-Ishwardi highway at Kalikapur-Degreepara point in Ishwardi upazila yesterday.
The deceased is Md Sabbir Hossain, 12, a student of class 7 of Kalikapur High School of Ishwardi upazila.
Following the accident, agitating local people put barricade on the highway that halted traffic movement for one hour.
Our Mymensingh correspondent says: Two women were killed on the spot and a youth was critically injured when a goods-laden truck hit a motorcycle from behind on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Bhandaboo in Bhaluka upazila yesterday morning.
The deceased were Momtaz Begum, 45, wife of Abul Kalam, and her sister Taslima Begum, 36, wife of Afaz Uddin, of Kharuali area in Bhaluka upazila. The critically injured Momtaz's son Shakil Ahmed, 25, was sent to Dhaka for better treatment.
A Feni correspondent adds: Three motorcyclists were killed when a Chittagong-bound oil-tanker from Dhaka hit the motorcyclists from behind on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Bhangar Takia area of Sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased were Shakhawat Hossain, 27, son of Tofazzal Hossain and also the president of Islami Chhattra Shibir of Fazilpur union unit, Abdullah-Al-Masud, 26, son of Abdul Kuddus and Abdullah-Al-Mamun, 25, son of Abul Kashem, of Fazilpur of Sadar upazila.
Our Rangpur correspondent says: An old man was killed when a Rangpur-bound bus hit his motorcycle while he was crossing the road in front of Sonali Bank in Mithapukur upazila yesterday morning.
The deceased was Abdul Jabber, 70, a former headmaster of Mirzapur Govt Primary Boys School of Imadpur union of the same upazila.
