AL leader, 28 others acquitted
Twenty-nine people, including a former upazila chairman and AL leader, were acquitted of the charges brought against them in the much-talked JCD leader Foyez Ahmed Anu killing case.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Sylhet Md Rafiqul Alam yesterday declared the verdict as police filed the final report of the case.
JCD leader Foyez Ahmed Anu was shot dead in a clash between the activists of BNP-led alliance and pro-AL men at the upazila headquarters of Biswanath during the AL-led countrywide agitation on December 3, 2006.
Later, Dasghar Union BNP chief Siraj Khan filed a case in connection with the killing accusing AL leader and former upazila chairman Muhibur Rahman and 28 others.
