Ansar retain women's kabaddi title
Bangladesh Ansar retained the title of Meizan National Women's Kabaddi Championship with an easy 19-10 win over Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation in the final at the Kabaddi Stadium yesterday.
Bangladesh Ansar, who also won the inaugural women's kabaddi championship last year, led the first half by 7-4 points.
Earlier in the morning, Ansar thrashed Rangpur 40-12 and BJMC outplayed Gazipur 29-6 in the semifinals to confirm their final berth.
Shahnaj Parvin Maleka of Ansar and Shila Akther of BJMC were jointly named the best player of the championship. They received Tk 5,000 each.
Zahid Ahsan Russel, chairman of parliamentary standing committee on youth and sports, witnessed the final and distributed prizes among the winners while advocate Sanzida Khanam MP and Kabaddi Federation vice-president Mukitur Rahman were among others present.
