Five arrested with 208 fake notes in Ctg
A house where fake currency notes were being issued was confiscated in the port city's Firingi Bazar area on Monday.
Police arrested five people for their alleged connection in this matter.
An apparatus used for making fake notes along with 208 fake pieces of Tk 500 denomination was also recovered from their possession during the drive.
The arrestees were identified as Shafiqur Rahman Nijami, Md Alamgir, Md Anwarul Haque, his brother Md Najim Uddin, all hailed from Satkania, and Md Sagor alias Ershad hailed from Narayanganj.
Police suspect that they all are involved in making fake notes.
Md Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station, said a police team led by Assistant Commissioner Manjur Morshed of Kotwali zone conducted the drive at the 1st floor of a five-storey building at Firingi Bazar acting on a tip off Monday night.
During primary interrogation the arrestees admitted that Mostafizur Rahman, another suspected in this connection who fled the scene on Monday, is the key person of the circle, said police.
A case was filed with Kotwali Police Station in this connection and the arrestees were produced before the court, said the OC.
