Enamul Haque laid to rest
Former lawmaker Enamul Haque Chowdhury Bir Pratik, also convener of the Sector Commanders Forum, Sylhet division, was laid to rest with state honour at the graveyard adjacent to the shrine of Hajrat Shahjalal (RA) in Sylhet city yesterday.
His namaz-e-janaza was held on the mosque premises adjacent to shrine of Hajrat Shahjalal (RA) after Zohr prayers.
People from all walks of life paid their last respect to the late leader at the Sylhet Central Shaheed Minar by placing wreaths on his coffin.
Enamul Haque passed away due to cancer at a private hospital in Sylhet city on Friday at the age of 68. He left behind his wife, two daughters, four sons, a host of friends, relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
Enamul Haque, sub-sector commander of the Sector 5 during the War of Liberation, honoured with Bir Pratik title for his heroic role in the war under Sector Commander Lt Gen Mir Shawkat Ali.
He was elected member of parliament in 1979 and 1986 with Awami League ticket from Sylhet-2 constituency (Biswanath and Balaganj).
