One held on charge of violating girl

Police arrested one person on allegation of violating a three-and-a-half year-old girl at Mohammadpur in the city on Saturday night.
The arrestee Omar Farukh, 45, was the victim's next-door neighbour. He violated her on Friday around 12:00 noon while she was home alone. Her father, a CNG driver, and mother Halima Begum were not at home during the incident.
The victim was admitted to One Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital following the incident.
Mahmudul Islam, officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur Police Station, said Farukh took her to his house alluring her of giving pickle while the victim and another kid were playing in the house.
Police arrested Farukh from his house at Sadek Khan Road of the area after victim's mother Halima informed the matter to them.
He said Farukh's wife, a garment worker, was not at home during the incident.
