“Wish” wings its way to Denmark


Bangladeshi filmmaker Oniket Alam has attended the 26th Odense International Film Festival in Denmark, according to a press release. Odense (August 22-27) is one of the largest and most prestigious short film festivals in the world.
Oniket's short film “Wish” was chosen to participate at the official competition in the festival. Oniket is the only Asian filmmaker chosen to participate at this year's competition. This was also the premiere of “Wish”.
The film, made early this year, is about a child's dream to fly. That dream is shattered by his mother. However, the young boy is not a quitter, and he finds new ways to pursue his dream. The film was shot at Oniket's native village in Satkhira, Bangladesh. The cast features villagers who have no previous acting experience.
Last year, Oniket's film “The Professionals” attended several international festivals.
