An open letter to ILO
ILO is a reputed organisation and its dedication is known all over the world. It has taken huge initiatives for the developing countries and has raised its voice against child labour, bonded labour and so on.
Among the several noble objectives of ILO, ensuring safety is one. In this context I would like to draw the attention of the authorities of ILO towards the poor road traffic system of our country which snatched around one lakh lives in the last ten years. How can we expect to develop efficient workers in this region when we cannot ensure them security? Lack of security creates tremendous pressure on a person which directly affects his productivity.
Moreover, our country is blessed with different natural beauties. By dint of it, we can easily compete with Malaysia or Singapore in attracting both national and international tourists which would earn foreign currency as well as increase employment. But this would never be possible by neglecting the issue of road safety as we have already lost our reputation for poor traffic system.
In this situation, ILO can establish training centres to make efficient drivers. A joint effort of ILO and our local leaders can bring massive change in our standard of living.
