Chemistry Olympiad held in city
Bangladesh Chemistry Olympiad was held for the first time
at Curzon Hall of Dhaka University yesterday.
Around 400 students from more than 50 colleges and English medium institutions took part in it.
First 10 winners of the Olympiad are: Nibih Jawad of Notre Dame College, Amin Andalib of Dhaka College, Safeer Farrukh Siddiqui of Scholastica, Faizaa Fahima of Scholastica, Syed Sabir Salman of Scholastica, Md Gaushey Shahariar of Notre Dame College, Shaikh Tanveer Javed of Scholastica, Md Salman Sakib Rahman of Notre Dame College, Aravi Nahar of Viqarunnisa Noon School & College, and Md Abed Rahman of Notre Dame College.
The winners were awarded prizes while all participants were given certificates.
President of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences Prof M Shamsher Ali gave away the prizes and certificates.
He highly appreciated Bangladesh Chemical Society for organising the Olympiad and hoped that it would continue.
The objective of the Olympiad was to encourage the young students to study chemistry, chemical technology and chemical sciences.
President of Bangladesh Chemical Society Prof M Muhibur Rahman was the convener of the Olympiad Committee.
