Stocks tank again
Stocks slumped again, as investors were nervous and reluctant to inject fresh funds into the market.
The benchmark gauge of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, DSE General Index, fell 0.74 percent to 6,177 points.
Investor confidence is still not up to the mark as the meeting of Securities and Exchange Commission with merchant bankers failed to give any positive news to the market, Green Delta Securities said in its regular market analysis.
The SEC sat with the merchant bankers to discuss the current market situation on Monday, the day the market rose on high expectations among the investors.
“Investors were reluctant to commit fresh funds to the current market amid poor market activities and ahead of religious festivity,” LankaBangla Securities, a leading stockbroker, said in its analysis.
Activities were very poor in the bourses. Short trading session for the holy month Ramadan also contributed to the decreasing activities.
Stockbroker said investors were nervous about the world equity markets downturn after S&P downgraded the ratings of the United States.
Chittagong stocks fell yesterday, with the Selective Categories Index declining 0.88 percent to 11,273 points.
