Another suspect arrested in bank lockers heist
The detective branch (DB) of police arrested another suspect in the heist at the Dhanmondi branch of Brac Bank early yesterday.
But the masterminds behind the heist in the locker room are yet to be arrested.
The suspect Moshiur Rahman alias Raju was arrested from Keraniganj.
"Raju was produced before the court with a prayer for a ten-day remand. But the court sent him to jail without granting his remand because of his illness," said DB Inspector AKM Nasirullah, the investigation officer (IO).
The robbers looted ornaments and other valuables worth several crores of taka breaking open 75 lockers after cutting through the ceiling of hotel Nidmahal right above the vault room. The robbery was committed some time between January 3 and 7.
Meanwhile, the affected locker renters remain worried about the return of their ornaments and valuables, which have been stolen.
Their worries intensified as the bank authorities decided to justify the claims with the help of the government agencies, including ACC and other intelligence agencies.
