Shreya Guhathakurta performs at IGCC
The Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre at Gulshan, Dhaka held a musical soiree featuring Rabindra Sangeet by Indian artiste Shreya Guhathakurta, at its auditorium on July 27, according to a press release.
The concert marked the upcoming 70th death anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore that falls on August 8, 2011. Guhathakurta's performance was deeply enjoyed and appreciated by a packed audience that included music enthusiasts and connoisseurs.
Shreya Guhathakurta has a distinguished lineage in Rabindra Sangeet. Her grandfather was the founder of the noted Rabindra Sangeet schools -- Dakshini and Geetobitan. She had trained under Rabindra Sangeet exponents Suchitra Mitra and Konika Bandopadhyay.
Guhathakurta has performed at concerts alongside veterans like Saswati Guhathakurta, Bratati Bandopadhyay and Srikanta Acharya. She has also lent voice for Tagore dance-dramas like “Shyama”, “Chandalika”, “Chitrangada” and “Shapmochon”. She has also done playback for the Indian National Award winning film “Antardhan”.
She has also released several albums, the latest being “Ananda Dhara” (from SaReGaMa, HMV). She has won Shyamal Sen Smriti Sanman for her contributions to the field of art and culture.
