Road crashes kill 4, injure 17
Four people were killed and 17 others injured in separate road accidents in Sirajganj, Jhenidah and Lalmonirhat yesterday.
A correspondent from Sirajganj reports: At least two people were killed and 15 others injured when a Dhaka-bound bus from Dinajpur collided head-on with a pickup van coming from opposite direction in Kaddar intersection in the district yesterday.
The deceased are Moazzem Hossain, 28, the pickup van driver and Dulal Hossain, 30, helper of the bus.
Of the injured, 10 people were admitted to Sirajganj General Hospital while others were given primary treatment.
Our Jhenidah correspondent says: One septuagenarian woman was killed and two others were injured when a Chuadanga-bound truck hit a human hauler on Jhenidah-Chuadanga highway at Nagarbathan Ghoshpara Bazaar in Sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased is Guljan Bibi, 75, of Saganna village of Sadar upazila.
Our Lalmonirhat correspondent adds: A motorcyclist was killed on the spot as a goods-laden truck hit the motorcycle on Doikhowa-Hatibandha road at Velaguri village of Hatibandha upazila in the district yesterday morning.
The deceased is Mozibul Islam, 35, son of late Khobir Uddin, of Doikhowa village of Hatibandha upazila.
The truck managed to flee away from the spot immediately after the accident.
