Govt asked to ensure petitioner's security
The High Court yesterday asked the government to ensure security of the writ petitioner who has moved against holding the office of parliamentary membership of Joypurhat-1 constituency.
A bench of Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik and Justice Gobinda Chandra Tagore yesterday passed the order during final hearing of the writ petition upon a prayer moved by his lawyer.
ASM Kawsar Uz Zaman, a voter of the constituency, filed the writ on November 29 last year seeking cancellation of BNP lawmaker Md Mozahar Ali Prodhan's parliamentary membership on charge of providing false information regarding his property to the Election Commission.
Kawsar's lawyer Manzill Musrhid told the court that Mozahar's son Uzzal Hossain and others had given death threat to his client for filing the writ petition and he (Kawsar) has filed a general diary in this connection.
