Call for proper evaluation of Tajuddin's leadership
Speakers at a discussion have called for proper evaluation of the leadership of Tajuddin Ahmed, the first prime minister of Bangladesh, during the liberation war.
Time has come to reveal the true story of Tajuddin to inspire the new generation to fight the reactionary and anti-liberation forces, they added.
The programme was part of a ongoing series discussion titled 'Itihash Katha Kay (History speaks) in Canberra, Australia on January 6.
Taking part in the discussion, Simin Hossain Rimi, daughter of Tajuddin,
lamented that the contribution of her father was not evaluated properly till date.
She called for adequate research on the life and works of Tajuddin to inspire the new leadership.
Saying that her father led a very simple life, Rimi recalled the unwavering commitment of Tajuddin even in the face of conspiracies hatched by Khandakar Mushtaque and his cohorts.
She also quoted some speeches of Tajuddin that she had compiled in her book titled 'Itihasher Pata Theke' (From the page of history).
Addressing the programme, local community leaders said a visionary leader like Tajuddin is needed now to lead the nation.
Kamrul Ahsan Khan moderated the discussion that saw a huge turn up of the members of local Bangladeshi community.
The discussion was followed by the screening of a documentary on the life of Tajuddin Ahmed titled 'An Unsung Hero' directed by Tanvir Mokammel.
